Geonetics has expertise and experience in assisting clients in utilizing existing spatial and legacy data resources, including CAD files, engineering databases, lease information, and customer service data. Several key elements characterize Geonetics' methodology for the Needs Assessment
- An enterprise-wide approach involving all departments/units will help determine how applications can support and enhance existing business processes.
- Business process modeling of activities within and between departments allow us to determine the data flows and to support the integration of the departmental functions and requirements.
- Documentation of functional specifications for applications from a user's perspective. This forms the basis for either selecting commercial off-the-shelf software and/or customized application development.
Geonetics provides technology transfer workshops to bring all staff and management involved to the same level of understanding of IT and GIS concepts and capabilities. These workshops include a review of current spatial data management trends. Geonetics also provides services for the creation of CAD and GIS standards. Creating appropriate standards is a critical foundation for building GIS systems and applications.
