Geonetics and its sister company BSC Group have developed a comprehensive ADA compliance and Curb Ramp Inventory system. This system was used by MassDOT to survey over 8000 miles of jurisdictional roadway and measure the physical characteristics of over 30,000 ramp. In addition to locating and measuring ramps, the locations of road crossings that did not have any curb ramps was also identified. The program consisted of the development and implementation of a mobile data collection app that communicated with a centralized cloud-based server.
The ability for field crews to work offline and sync data when wifi is available results in significant savings in mobile broadband costs while still ensuring the security of all collected data.Matt von Wahlde, COO Geonetics
The system was built using a open, service oriented architecture with REST server endpoints being called from a custom Android mobile app. The robust web API enforces full transnational integrity control to ensure that only complete, valid field data is sent to the server. Unique aspects of this system includes field crew planning and scheduling, performance metrics and a dynamic scoring system that automatically and objectively scores ramps based on objective rules-based scoring matrix. The scoring rules are completely user configurable through an easy to HTML 5 interface. The system has a full GIS integration utilizing ESRI ArcGIS Server.
